Course Overview
Introduction
The BIIAB Award for Designated Premises Supervisors is a nationally recognised qualification developed in conjunction with local government, the police and industry and is recommended for both existing designated premises supervisors, and those who may be required to take up this post in the future, working in any type of licensed premises.
Who is the course for?
Designed for those responsible for the day-to-day management of licensed premises and who, in line with the Licensing Act 2003, provide the single point of accountability for those premises.
Course Benefits
It will provide an understanding of the DPS role and the responsibilities both within the Licensing Act 2003 and other regulatory issues in addition to those covered in the Act. It addresses the practical day-to-day issues involved in running a licensed premises.

- The roles and responsibilities of the designated premises supervisor
- The licensable activities carried out in licensed premises
- The requirements of legislation and best practice to support the four licensing objectives
- How to conduct a risk assessment, and how it is used to underpin the operating schedule
- the relationship between the operating schedule and management controls.
Assessment
Assessment is by a multiple choice examination.
