The Operations Manager at one of the UK's leading independent hotels has announced he is leaving to become a Training Manager with national company, abv Training Ltd.
Ben Lain (31) is leaving the operations post at The Moat House Hotel in Staffordshire, which is own and run by hospitality group The Lewis Partnership, to join the growing team of trainers at one of the licensed and hospitality industry's most successful training companies.
Ben, who has previously been awarded the 'Responsible Drinks Retailer of the Year' title for his work with the local Police and Pubwatch groups in his hometown of Stafford, is joining abv Training Ltd after over 7 years working with Managing Director, David Hawbrook as part of the staff development programme within The Lewis Partnership.
Since 2002 abv Training Ltd has been working in partnership with the hospitality group to provide licensing, management and customer service training. After several years developing his own skills and knowledge, Ben began delivering training and studied for his City and Guilds certificate in The Delivery of Learning.
He commented on the new position: "I have worked in the hospitality industry for over 10 years, for a company that prides itself on its staff training and development, I am testament to that commitment as I have gone from a bartender to senior management and have now been given the opportunity to forge a career in another area of the industry."
"I am very excited about working with licensees and businesses around the country, hopefully helping them to run successful pubs, clubs and hotels and creating other businesses like The Lewis Partnership."
Mr Lain will be working with businesses to deliver courses and qualifications to the licensed retail and hospitality industry including the BIIAB National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (NCPLH) and Introduction to Licensed Retail Operations (ILRO).
David Hawbrook, Managing Director of abv Training Ltd, said: "It is a pleasure to welcome Ben to the team, I have seen his skills and knowledge grow consistently in the years I have been training with him and most importantly he is passionate about development, both of himself and others. He is an asset to the company and it is great to have him on board."
