Apprenticeships are the key tool for the government in raising skills levels in the workforce. In the licensed hospitality industry, increasing numbers of businesses, training managers and employees have been requesting a programme that meets their needs for better training in customers service, technical knowledge and practical skills.
The Apprenticeship programmes have been developed in conjunction with Sector Skills Councils, and bring considerable value to organisations, employers, individuals and the economy.
Bii's Apprenticeship framework can be used by employers with existing employees, new recruits or with people you think are long term prospects in the industry offering progression into Leadership and Management roles. We are currently offering Apprenticeships at Level 2 and 3 aimed at staff working at a daily operational level and above. BII's Apprenticeship frameworks offer a natural progression for employees wishing to move on and stay in this industry.
Building upon the Level 2, the Level 3 Apprenticeship offers a clear progression route into leadership, so is ideal for those who are looking to progress into a supervisory or management role.. Topics covered include: An Introduction to Leadership and Management, Marketing, Profit, Loss and Budget Control and Supervising Drinks Service in Licensed Hospitality Premises.
Like all employees, apprentices must still receive a wage. The Government's National Apprenticeship Service will cover in full, or in part, the training costs with funding available for the technical and competency components and key skills.

The functional skills and ERR elements are embedded in the technical and competence. Within these components there are a number of mandatory as well as Optional units.
Unlike many other hospitality Apprenticeships, the BII Apprenticeships are entirly uniqu as they encompass units that are specifically designed for the licensed hospitality industry and at Level 2 has the added advantage of the inclusion of the Award for Personal Licence Holders qualification
Finding and keeping skilled people is crucial to any business striving to be successful.
Upon successful completion you will have learned sector specific skills and achieved a new qualification, which may open doors to your career or allow you to continue with further education or training. As an apprentice through the BII Apprenticeship Scheme you will receive one year’s complimentary BII Foundation Membership*.
The majority of your time as an apprentice will be spent in the workplace enabling you to gain sector specific, hands on practical experience from those already working in the industry. Study through e-learning, mobile phone technology and E-assessment as well as more traditional training and assessment methods will complement 'on the job training'. Learning materials will include interactive books, some of which can be completed on-line.
The length of an Apprenticeship can vary depending on your prior skills and the qualification being achieved. BII estimates that it will take 12 months for you to complete the BII Level 2 Apprenticeship. Nearly all of this time can be spent at work.
We take our responsibilities in helping young people develop their careers through Apprenticeships exceptionally seriously and we believe our totally flexible package has something for everyone
